Accessibility Statement
Our commitment
Gardsy Inc. is committed to making Stubby usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, high-contrast or reduced-motion settings, and voice control. We follow the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards, and we design and test against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA, the standard the AODA references, using WCAG 2.1 Level AA as our working target.
Conformance status
Stubby is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means most of the content conforms, and we know of the exceptions listed below. In September 2026 we completed a full manual review of the marketing site, the calculator app and the rate-card pages against every Level A and AA success criterion, and fixed what it found: colour contrast in both light and dark themes, keyboard access to the pay-stub scanner and file pickers, screen-reader announcements of calculated results and scan progress, form labels, table headers, focus indicators, tab and toggle states, heading structure and motion preferences.
Known limitations
- Charts. The year-to-date bar chart in the app is summarised for screen readers as text, but exact values are easiest to read from the tables beside it.
- Scanning a pay stub. Optical character recognition of a photo is inherently visual. Every value the scanner extracts is shown in editable, labelled fields so it can be checked and corrected by keyboard or screen reader, but the photo itself cannot be described.
- Public rate cards are generated pages with wide tables; they scroll horizontally on narrow screens inside a keyboard-focusable region.
- Third-party pages we link to (union locals, Employment and Social Development Canada, the CRA) are outside our control.
What Stubby does to help
- Works with the text size, zoom, contrast, colour-scheme and reduced-motion settings of your device and browser. Nothing is locked to a fixed size or orientation.
- Every control is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- Large, glove-friendly touch targets on the calculator, designed for job sites.
- Results and status changes are announced to screen readers.
- Everything runs on your own device, so it keeps working offline and with assistive technology you have already set up.
Feedback and alternate formats
If you hit a barrier, cannot access something, or need any part of Stubby (including these legal pages, a rate card or your own exported data) in another format, tell us. We will respond within 5 business days and work with you to provide the information in a way that meets your needs, at no cost.

Feedback about accessibility is reviewed by the person responsible for the product and is used to prioritise fixes. This feedback process is itself available in an accessible format on request.
Technical information
Stubby is built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript (React) and WAI-ARIA, and is tested in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on desktop and mobile, with VoiceOver, NVDA and TalkBack, and with keyboard-only navigation.
